See the whale migration through ancient culture and modern research.

Presented in partnership with Dr Jodi Edwards

WHALE CRUISE

Join us for a cruise like no other. The Indigenous Cultural Whale Watching Experience brings together contemporary whale research and First Nations culture, connecting guests to the deep and ancient relationship between Aboriginal people, whales and the sea.

Run in partnership with Gumaraa Aboriginal Experience and whale researcher Dr Jodi Edwards (University of Wollongong), this cruise offers a rare chance to see whales through both a scientific and cultural lens, aboard the Cat Balou from Shellharbour Marina.

Each cruise includes a smoking ceremony and storytelling led by Gumaraa Aboriginal Experience’s Richard Campbell and Lisa Bazzano, alongside insights from Dr Jodi Edwards on the whales migrating along our coast. Come away with a richer understanding of the cultural significance of whales to the Yuin people, alongside the marine science behind their annual migration.
